Bulkhead Fittings - Plastic

Product information

A range of BSP Bulkhead fiftings with female BSP threads either side to fit into your water tank.

These bulkhead fittings allow you for example to fit a float valve on the inside of the tank and then a pipe fitting on the other side as the inlet.

We have 4 sizes available:

¾ inch BSP female
1 inch BSP female
1 ½ inch BSP female
2 inch BSP female
3 inch NPT female

These fittings comes with a thick rubber washer to create a seal. It is not deterimental which way round you fit these to your tank but as a general rule however the back nut will go on the outside of the container.

If you are fitting these to a large tank or the aperature is not large enough to climb inside drill the correct size hole in the side of the tank (list below) and link the opening of the top tank with the hold you just drilled with a length of string. It can be quiet fiddly, might require a bolt on the end of the string to help locate the hole or a large stick to poke it through. Once the two holes are linked with the length of string put the bulkhead fitting threads first with the piece of string going through the female threads, and while making the string taught let go of of the fitting and it should drop down near the hole. Pull the fitting through the hole and screw the backnut on and then tighten. the washer will create the seal on the inside of the tank. This is usually a lot easier with a couple of people, especially with larger 5,000 or 20,000 litre water tanks.

The bulkhead fittings come with an opposite direction back nut. You will notice that the back nut tightens when screwed anti-clockwise. this ensures that any fittings screwed into the female thread will not undo the backnut like on other bosses or bulkhead fittings if you are not carefull. Screwing something into the female threads will only ever tighten the back nut.

Not sure what size boss to go for if you have an exisiting hole? Here is a list of what size hole you shoudl drill if you want to fit one of these to your tank:

¾ inch bulkhead fitting - 42 mm
1 inch bulkhead fitting - 57 mm
1½ inch bulkhead fitting - 76 mm
2 inch bulkhead fitting - 76 mm
3 inch NPT bulkhead fitting - 113 mm

Not to worry if you have or have drilled a smaller hole as you can always file this out.

The 3 inch NPT bulkhead fittings has an american female thread either side. For this to work with BSP threads we have a 3 inch NPT male to 3 inch BSP Male adaptor nipple.
